Brown met Armstrong in 1990. Later that year, Brown and Armstrong entered into an agreement pursuant to which Armstrong appeared in a television commercial promoting the Forty XL, an earlier version of the Power Max. In the summer of 1991, Brown and Armstrong entered into another agreement pursuant to which Armstrong appeared in both a 20-minute video promoting *1299 Brown's Power Max and in a second version of the video, which was identical to the first, except that it added a 2-minute section discussing the Birdie Puck. (FS 56.) The contract between Brown and Armstrong for the production of the videos did not contain any restrictions on Armstrong's use of any ideas used in the videos. Brown assembled the second version of the video, together with the Birdie Puck, the Power Max, and an audiotape featuring himself, into a package called the UltraMax III, which he offered for sale at a retail price ranging from $49.95 to $59.95. (FS 45.) Even with Armstrong's endorsement of the Birdie Puck and the Power Max, sales remained disappointing. (FS 61.) Armstrong offered to make additional efforts to promote the Birdie Puck and the Power Max, but Brown declined and decided to market his products on his own. (FS 64.) During this time, Armstrong was discussing the "Maximizing Your Game" kit with ATC. (FS 65.) Armstrong informed Brown of his deal with ATC and believed that his exposure in the ATC infomercial and videotapes would enhance his value as a promoter of Brown's products. (Id.) Armstrong's contract with ATC explicitly acknowledged the existence of the two instructional videotapes Armstrong had made with Brown. (FS 66.)

We investigated and compared the effects of 2 forms of sales promotion, namely, price discounts and bonus packs, on online impulse buying. Participants were 280 undergraduate business students at a Chinese university, who responded to a promotion on a mock website. Previous researchers have shown that bonus packs have a greater impact on offline impulse buying than do price discounts. However, our findings were different in the online impulse buying context, in which price discounts resulted in greater impulse buying intention than did bonus packs when the product was hedonic, and bonus packs were a more effective sales promotion than price discounts when the product was utilitarian. In addition, price discounts resulted in greater impulse buying intention than did bonus packs when the product was inexpensive, whereas bonus packs were a more effective sales promotion than were price discounts when the product was expensive.
Cub Scouting is a program for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade whose overall mission is to help young people build character, learn citizenship, develop personal fitness, and contribute to the academic development of the children who participate. Cub Scouts are part of a pack. The Cub Scout pack belongs to a church, a school, or some other group of people in the community or neighborhood. This group makes sure your pack has good adult leaders, a place to meet, and exciting things to do. The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to eight youth. All of the Cub Scouts in your den are in the same grade and may even go to the same school.
Commissioners are district and council volunteers who help units succeed. They are available to coach and consult with parents and leaders of packs, troops, crews and ships. Please feel free to contact your commissioner anytime with questions. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America. They also oversee the unit recharter plan, so that each unit reregisters on time with an optimal number of youth and adult members.A commissioner plays several roles, including friend, representative, unit "doctor," teacher, and counselor. Of all their roles, friend is the most important. It springs from the attitude, "I care; I am here to help, what can I do for you?" Caring is the ingredient that makes commissioner service successful. He or she is an advocate of unit needs. A commissioner who makes himself known and accepted now will be called on in future times of trouble.
You can customize the location of user packages installed from CRAN as well as the default CRAN repository. You can also configure the user-interface of the RStudio IDE to discourage end-user package installation in the case where packages are deployed centrally to a site library.
By default R packages are installed into a user-specific library based on the contents of the R_LIBS_USER environment variable (more details on this mechanism are here: -manual/R-devel/library/base/html/libPaths.html).
Besides the limits on package installation and CRAN repository editing described in the previous section there are a number of other limits that can be specified. The following describes all of the options that can be used to limit features.
This study characterized the dynamics of the activities of urease, nitrate reductase and nitrite reductase in both soil organic layer and mineral soil layer under three depths of snow pack (deep snowpack, moderate snowpack and shallow snowpack) over the three critical periods (snow formed period, snow stable period, and snow melt period) in the subalpine Abies faxoniana forest of western Sichuan in the winter of 2012 and 2013. Throughout the winter, soil temperature under deep snowpack increased by 46.2% and 26.2%, respectively in comparison with moderate snowpack and shallow snowpack. In general, the three nitrogen-related soil enzyme activities under shallow snowpack were 0.8 to 3.9 times of those under deep snowpack during the winter. In the beginning and thawing periods of seasonal snow pack, shallow snowpack significantly increased the activities of urease, nitrate and nitrite reductase enzyme in both soil organic layer and mineral soil layer. Although the activities of the studied enzymes in soil organic layer and mineral soil layer were observed to be higher than those under deep- and moderate snowpacks in deep winter, no significant difference was found under the three snow packs. Meanwhile, the effects of snowpack on the activities of the measured enzymes were related with season, soil layer and enzyme type. Significant variations of the activities of nitrogen-related enzymes were found in three critical periods over the winter, and the three measured soil enzymes were significantly higher in organic layer than in mineral layer. In addition, the activities of the three measured soil enzymes were closely related with temperature and moisture in soils. In conclusion, the decrease of snow pack induced by winter warming might increase the activities of soil enzymes related with nitrogen transformation and further stimulate the process of wintertime nitrogen transformation in soils of the subalpine forest.
Family-based study designs are often employed when investigating the genetic causes of complex disease. While the transmission disequilibrium test (TDT) and its extensions were developed to use family data for assessing linkage between a known genetic marker and a disease-causing gene, the so-called FBAT approach proposed by Rabinowitz and Laird (2000) effectively subsumes these family-based procedures as special cases. FBAT is fully conditional, but its implementation in the freely available FBAT software package uses a large-sample distributional approximation to compute p-values. The exact distribution for FBAT can be enumerated, but doing so explicitly is computationally intensive, particularly for relatively larger sample sizes. Schneiter et al. (2005) proposed an efficient algorithm for computing the exact p-value, but the computational performance of this procedure has not been systematically evaluated. In this report, we carry out a simulation study to determine the relative computational efficiency of large-sample FBAT and exact FBAT (XFBAT). Characteristic of all exact significance tests in statistical practice, XFBAT is significantly more computationally burdensome, and its efficiency decreases exponentially for larger sample sizes. In addition, XFBAT is more computationally intensive under the additive inheritance model, as opposed to either the dominant or recessive models. 041b061a72
